Silent Flight — bronze sculpture on a stone base

An owl cuts through the air in full flight: one wing sweeps down to the base, the other reaches far out to the side, while the head stays turned directly towards the viewer. The whole mass rests on a single point of contact at the wingtip, so the heavy bronze appears suspended in mid-air. The form is smooth and pared back, reduced to two long, flowing arcs. The sculpture is handmade: cast in bronze, then hand-ground and hand-patinated.

This is handcrafted work with an exceptionally subtle finish — the cool silver-grey patina is applied by hand and shifts softly between lighter and darker passages, echoing the mottled plumage of a barn owl. That distribution is different on every casting, so no two pieces repeat exactly. The bronze is mounted on a solid rectangular base of dark stone that balances the reach of the composition. The sculpture needs open space around it — it shows best on a console, sideboard, mantelpiece or in a display cabinet. Its imagery of wisdom, intuition and silence makes it an exceptional gift.
